The Riddle of Shalomat A Story of Love and Adventure
CHAPTER 1
The Myth of Shalomat
The two gods, Sophius and Igod, were playing ball with two small spheres, one golden and the other dark crystal. They used ancient movements of gracious harmony and it was never sure whether the gods were playing the spheres or whether the spheres were playing the gods. It was a celestial game of intricate patterns and unpredictability. Igod, the darker of the two gods, secretly became annoyed with being dictated by the spheres and envied their power. It would take dark courage to break up this game of balance and with dire consequences. But that is exactly what happened.
The crystal sphere seemed the most beautiful to gain control over. Finally Igod was able to catch it and muster enough courage to shape a small flat area onto its surface. It now had lost its perfection and came to a halt. Looking at the flattened section it acted as a mirror. For the first time ever the image of Igod was reflected, self was being projected. Something very important had taken place.
Having begun shaping the sphere Igod felt that the most perfect and stable form should be achieved. It was to create a balance, not rounded, but of a different kind. The crystal sphere became a triangular pyramid with each of the four planes a 60 degrees triangle. It was still beautiful but no longer able to fly. It had a power all of its own, quite different from Shalo, the golden sphere that had not been touched. Igod named it Cryslis.
This event disturbed the heavens. The situation shouldn’t remain forever and it was prophesied that it wouldn’t. At the appointed time, The Day when the Three Planets of the star Xristis are perfectly aligned, the Cryslis could lose its power. Harmony would again be possible though the intricate ball game was never to be played again. That was a great shame, but the gods had other games left to amuse themselves with.
It was further prophesied that the gods could not achieve the undoing of the power of Cryslis on their own. It was on earth that the greatest effect of the demise of the harmony game was to be felt. The world began to notice an imbalance in life itself. It was with worldlings, the gods concluded, that the challenge of restoration would finally rest. They should be the ones to try and regain what had been lost. This restoration of balance could be achieved at The Day of the Planets of Xristis, only on that day.
The Cryslis was taken from Igod under much protestation. It was thrown to earth together with the perfect golden sphere of Shalo. Neither was very large, easily fitting into a human hand. But the size of an object is no measure of the power it can represent. The Idea behind Shalo is very different from the Cryslis Idea, and both are very powerful indeed.
In closing the matter the gods released an instruction about how the divine embarrassment created by the Cryslis event may be undone. It’s called:
The Riddle of Shalomat.
When triangle becomes circle and ripples are created from a symbol of halves will balance be restored through chaos.
It was decreed that the keys to success on The Day of the Planets were contained in that Riddle.
Igod now had lost the Cryslis to earth, but was not thereby powerless. This dark god was determined to outsmart the prophecy of restoration, to defeat the Riddle, for little in the world of the gods is ever absolute.
For worldlings there remained one serious question: on The Day of the Planets, who would be able to fulfil The Riddle of Shalomat, and undo the power of Cryslis?
